Job Purpose Salary: £39,800 - £48,600 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights. BBC Scotland Productions are the in-house production element of BBC Scotland, consisting of the following departments/areas: Digital; Music, Entertainment & Events; Sport; Speech & Topical and the Scottish Symphony Orchestra. We also work closely with BBC Audio Scotland and NI, supporting the unit across speech and music output. We currently require a Senior Content Producer to join the development team as backfill for a colleague on Maternity leave. As such, the position will run till mid-February 2025 (precise end date TBC). Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities A creative role, you will be able to generate ideas in order to meet a range of development briefs (across genre and platform) and assist others to develop their ideas. You will also work with producers of existing propositions in order to refresh strands/brands where appropriate. You will be expected to write and design treatments to a high standard and with flair. You will also be expected to assist with pilot productions or when appropriate, first series. It should be noted we define production as platform agnostic - and could apply to conventional TV, Digital or Audio platforms. Knowledge, Skills, Training & Experience This is a busy role that requires solid creative ability alongside good organisation skills. The candidate will be expected to work with teams across all our bases, including visits to Northern Ireland when required. A deep knowledge of current BBC output, regardless of platform, is essential. The development team is partially funded by BBC Audio - therefore, a deep knowledge of current trends in audio (linear and digital) is a distinct advantage. You will be able to analyse and discuss ideas, with a particular focus on format and narrative construction. Writing treatments, and the design thereof, will be core part of your duties. You must have excellent writing skills, both short and longer form. You will also have good design skills using software packages such as Powerpoint and Photoshop. Experience with editing packages (video and/or audio) is also an advantage. You will be able to form creative and fruitful relationships with colleagues across Scotland and Northern Ireland. You will have led creative development sessions, and assisted others in the development of their ideas. The ideal candidate will have a multiplatform outlook on content, and be able to identify opportunities for propositions to exist across all our platforms - TV/Radio/Digital along with being able to demonstrate success with regard to multitasking across numerous propositions and meeting tight, sometimes conflicting, deadlines.
