Job Summary

As a Procurement Category Specialist, you will provide effective category management support to the Engineering and Infrastructure team by leading, defining and implementing category strategies and related procurement activity. Owning key relationships between business stakeholders and the procurement team, and consistently delivering recurring cost efficiencies, best value and continuous improvement.

Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will be an integral member of the Projects Commercial team and is responsible for the development, implementation, management, and performance of sourcing strategies and SRM plans for the Engineering category, which includes key spend areas such as maintenance and utilities,. You will also be required to achieve value improvement targets, meet specific business requirements of defined procurement's and ensure this is aligned in support of the wider corporate goals of the Port of Dover.

Skills and Qualifications

  • MCPIS Level 4, or working towards a similar or equivalent professional qualification
  • Previous Category management support or Strategic Procurement experience within a multi stakeholder environment
  • Category knowledge and experience leading at least two of the following categories:

- Operational good and services (direct)

- Engineering goods and services (direct or indirect)

- Utilities and energy supply services (indirect)

- Construction works (projects and programmes)

  • Demonstrable competencies in commercial negotiations and competitive processes
  • Experience in producing schedules with Stakeholders to facilitate tendering and analysis of supply chain quotations to achieve best result
  • Experience in using Purchase-to-Pay and Source-to-Contracts tools or systems/processes
  • Experience of using Microsoft Office products to include Excel intermediate level
