NHS Salary Band: Band 4

Salary: £26,530 - £29,114 per annum

Work Location: Queen Alexandra Hospital, Cosham

Hours per week: Full time, 37.5 hours per week

We have an excellent opportunity for a Cancer Care Co-ordinator to join our Oncology Team based here at Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth. 

Under the guidance and supervision of the Clinical Nurse Specialist, the successful candidate will provide care and support to patients with a diagnosis of cancers of the urinary system, such as the bladder, prostate, kidneys and testicular. 

This role is vital to enable patients to progress smoothly through their cancer journey ensuring that they have investigations, procedures and treatment booked in a timely manner and to maintain patient safety and that patient experience is positive by treating all patients, relatives and colleagues with respect, dignity, and courtesy in accordance with Trust values.

Job Summary

  • Under the guidance and supervision of the Clinical Nurse Specialist, provide care and support to patients with a diagnosis of cancers of the urinary system, such as the bladder, prostate, kidneys and tsticular.
  • To enable patients to progress smoothly through their cancer journey ensuring that they have investigations, procedures and treatment booked in a timely manner.
  • Ensure patient safety is maintained and patient experience is positive by treating all patients, relatives and colleagues with respect, dignity and courtesy in accordance with Trust values.
  • Ensure that at all times you act within your sphere of competence.
  • A key aspect of this role will be to provide the personalised care package and to promote supported self-management which will include the completion of Holistic Needs Assessments and Patient Activation Measurements (PAM*) at key time points through the patient's journey.
