What will you be doing?
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will join a team in Derby/Warrington to support our activities within the Nuclear Sector.
Your main responsibilities will be:
- Create and optimize designs for various types of tanks (e.g., storage tanks, accumulator tanks, surge tanks) used in nuclear power plant systems.
- Perform mechanical design calculations, including wall thickness, reinforcement requirements, and support structures.
- Address factors affecting tank stability, such as hydrostatic pressure, wind, and seismic loads.
- Contribute to design definitions with calculations, analysis and feasibility studies for either thermal performance or mechanical design.
- Diagnose and solve operational issues related to storage of liquids or gasses, such as fouling, pressure drop, or reduced efficiency.
- Oversee tank design projects from concept to detail design, coordinating with vendors, suppliers, and other engineering teams.
Who are we looking for?
- Familiarity with industry standards and safety regulations. (i.e. ASME VIII, API 620 etc).
- Experience with industrial tanks or pressured vessels and experience designing mechanical pressured equipment (Bentley AutoPIPE software experience preferred).
- Ability to analyse complex problems, propose innovative solutions, and ensure designs meet project specifications and standards.
