As a key member of the Global Communications department, you will play a leading role in developing Valneva's internal communication strategy and lead on its implementation through plans and campaigns.

You will manage and develop content for multiple internal and external communications channels and be proficient when using and updating digital platforms and databases including the staff intranet and website.

You will plan, prepare, and disseminate high-quality communications internally (to the global workforce) and, when required, externally (to our various publics, including the media and investor community).

You will support the VP of Global Communications and European Investor Relations, and wider team members, with general communications support including, but not limited to, the updating of Q&As, maintaining media databases and distribution lists, proofing publications and reports, working with agencies, and planning and preparation of financial publications and other BAU communications.

Requirements

Internal Communications (anticipated 50% of role)

  • Support the development of Valneva’s internal communications strategy to engage staff and build employee advocacy. Lead its implementation through various communications initiatives and campaigns all tracked and reported through metrics/data and surveys.
  • Responsible for managing and updating the Company intranet and lead the redevelopment of the staff intranet.
  • Prepare internal content plan linked to Company strategy and ongoing issues / topics; this includes writing and publication of global news articles.
  • Work closely with Human Resources, coaching members of the team, to always ensure high-quality internal communications and alignment in tone, brand, and cadence of messaging with employees.
  • Train and supervise other intranet contributors.

External Communications (anticipated 25% of role)

  • Support the preparation of press releases for publication on the Company’s website and lead the dissemination of releases via newswire services, the Company’s external mailing list, social media, and internal announcements.      
  • Support the planning and organization of in-person and online events, including internal meetings and social gatherings, as well as financial results conference calls/webcasts.
  • Maintain Company distribution lists.

Project Delivery and Day-to-day (anticipated 25% of role)

  • Support communications around financial publications and other communication projects (e.g., video production, on-site photography).
  • Perform proofreading and copyediting.
  • Finalize and disseminate daily Press Review.
  • Prepare presentations.
  • Support the creation and updating of global communication materials (e.g., Q&As, executive summaries).
  • Provide support for responding to French-language ESG questionnaires and requests for information coming from French investors.
  • Provide support in consulting the members of the Executive Committee on all communications matters.

Required Skills

  • French language (C1 level or above) written and oral (required).
  • First-class communication skills both written and oral.
  • Strong writing skills and the ability to simplify and explain complex information for lay-audiences.
  • Highly proficient with the Adobe Creative Suite (notably Illustrator, InDesign, and Premiere Pro), Mailchimp, WordPress and other digital platforms including social media.
  • Skilled at video editing and design (desirable).
