We are currently seeking a Livestock Procurement Executive to join our team at St Merryn site in Bodmin.

In this role, you will play a vital role in the responsible sourcing of quality cattle and sheep. Your main responsibility will be to procure and book in livestock that meet our weekly targets and requirements.

As a Livestock Procurement Executive, you will work closely with farmers who deal directly with our sites, ensuring a good working relationship and a thorough understanding of our requirements. You will also liaise with farmers regarding issues of livestock supply and provide accurate and timely reporting on procurement activities.

In addition to your procurement responsibilities, you will contribute to the reporting and effective delivery of our livestock procedures, using database and IT systems to enhance efficiency. You will also collaborate with industry bodies, including vets, suppliers, and hauliers, to ensure the smooth operation of the livestock department.

This role is a 12 months fixed term contract, although, it has the potential to develop into a permanent junior buyer role, performance dependant.

Working hours: Monday to Friday, 40hrs/week

Requirements

  • A degree in a livestock-related subject or equivalent is desirable but not essential
  • Practical experience in cattle and sheep management
  • IT literacy, including experience with databases and CRM systems
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Commercial acumen and good negotiating skills
  • Assertiveness, proactivity, and the ability to manage your own workload
  • Clean driving licence and own transport is essential (mileage for travel to farms/marts reimbursed)
