The role of the Maintenance Team Leader is to provide a range of engineering support and maintenance services across the Beenham manufacturing site. The aim is to ensure that all equipment is maintained effectively, and all breakdowns / repairs are carried out efficiently and safely.

Acting as part of the local maintenance team they will attend equipment breakdowns and undertake PPM schedules as requested, in order to maintain service levels & reduce machinery downtime.

Work closely with Peer group (Engineering Manager, Production Manager, and Production Team Leaders) to prioritise planned and unplanned maintenance activities to meet business needs

Working 42 hours per week from Monday to Friday, you'll be on a 3-shift rotation covering days and nights, the shift pattern will follow an earlies (5:30AM-2:30PM), Nights (10:00PM-6:00AM) and afters (13:30PM-10:30PM) rotation. The hours hours on a Friday are slightly different. Earlies (06:00AM,-12:00PM), Nights (18:00PM- 04:00AM), Afters (12:00PM-18:00PM)

So what's the mission?

  • Manage the day-to-day activities of the maintenance team, actively facilitating team effectiveness to deliver improvements and reduce machine downtime.
  • Review daily work order requests both via SAP and direct contact with all manufacturing areas/lines.
  • Prioritise and distribute workload.
  • Give the necessary feedback for all work orders and notifications.
  • Contribute to development of effective planned preventative maintenance system through use of data driven analysis.
  • When required to participate in plant shutdowns for maintenance and to assist with shutdown works.
  • Take a lead position and develop skills and understanding through coaching and sharing of knowledge.
  • Work within the departmental budget.
  • Assist with annual engineering budget planning.
  • Identify and implement training and development requirements for maintenance engineers.
  • Ensure maintenance equipment spares are available as required.
  • Liaise with stores to identify relevant and correct stock items.
  • Develop and implement core maintenance processes and procedures.
  • Deliver against site KPIs such as H&S, production TME and CI 8D.
  • Ensure compliance to all regulatory/legal and corporate standards.
  • Continuously seek to add value, improve efficiency, and reduce wastage through applying lean principles, wherever applicable.
  • Liaise with other central MEL functions e.g., central engineering, EHSQ.
  • Carry out other tasks as deemed necessary, that are within the job holder’s capability.
  • Work to all Health and safety standards.
  • Conduct 1-2-1 meetings with Engineers, setting standards and providing both positive and development feedback.


What are the mission critical skills required?

  • Maintenance background (Mechanical or Electrical, City & Guilds).
  • EHS qualification (IOSH/NEBOSH).
  • Management/Supervisory qualification (CMS/DMS or equivalent).
  • CMMS experience ideally SAP - PM Module.
  • Experience of contractor control systems.
  • Working with CI to deliver performance enhancements.
