Marley Contract Services (MCS) is a roofing contractor operating in Scotland, specialising in pitched roofing applications including Solar PV panels. MCS has a workforce of up to 80 with a small office team of around 7 who are based at our office in Bishopbriggs, Glasgow.

Right now we're seeking a detail orientated, number loving individual to take the role of Operational Accountant in our team at Bishopbriggs.

So, whats the role?

Are you a numbers whiz with a passion for driving financial performance?

This role is your chance to make a significant impact by providing vital financial insights and operational analysis.

You'll be the go-to person for preparing and presenting accounts, forecasts, and budgets, ensuring everything runs like a well-oiled machine.

Reporting directly to the Sales Director, you'll be at the heart of our financial operations, collaborating with commercial and contract managers to optimize our business practices.

  • Collaborate: Provide dynamic financial insights to drive performance and strategic decision-making.
  • Lead Financial Operations: Take charge of MCS accounts, forecasts, and annual budgets.
  • Master Product Costs: Ensure precise calculation and maintenance of all product costs.
  • Spearhead Budget Coordination: Orchestrate the annual budget process, meeting all critical deadlines.
  • Innovate for Efficiency: Identify and implement cutting-edge cost-saving opportunities.
  • Oversee Assets: Manage the Plant fixed asset register with meticulous attention
  • Deliver Timely Reports: Compile accurate month and year-end financial information.
  • Manage Ledgers: Ensure flawless General Ledger reconciliations and period-end routines.
  • Analyse Performance: Provide insightful reports on weekly and monthly Sales & Margins.
  • Support Dynamic Needs: Conduct diverse ad hoc analyses to bolster business initiatives.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement: Seek innovative ways to add value and enhance efficiency.
  • Support Payroll Systems: Assist the office team in maintaining seamless payroll operations.

What skills are required?

  • Qualifications: ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified /part-qualified.
  • Experience: Construction industry experience is a plus but not a must.
  • Tech-Savvy: Mastery of SAGE accounting software.
  • Detail-Oriented: Thrives in a fast-paced environment without compromising on accuracy.
  • People Skills: Excellent communication and customer service abilities, people management experience is not essential but is advantageous
  • Discreet & Judicious: Demonstrates excellent judgment, adaptability, and versatility.
  • Independent Operator: Proactive with a strong initiative.
  • Tax Knowledge: Familiar with VAT, CIS, and payroll taxes.
