We are looking for a Health and Safety Business Partner to join our team. As a Health and Safety Business Partner, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our organisation complies with health and safety regulations and maintains a safe working environment for all employees. The role will be vital in engaging with departments across the Group to provide advice and guidance, where required.

Requirements

Key responsibilities of the Health and Safety Business Partner...

  • To assist the Occupational Health and Safety Manager in delivering a specialised advisory service throughout the organisation.
  • Provide guidance and recommendations for safe work practices and procedures.
  • Support managers in the development and review of risk assessments to identify and mitigate hazards.
  • Offer advice on substances regulated by COSHH, including assisting in COSHH assessments, report compilation, and assessment record keeping.
  • Conduct site visits to perform audit inspections and interact with management on an as-needed basis.
  • Provide recommendations on display screen equipment and professional advice on DSE assessments.
  • Ensure compliance with the group's Health and Safety policy to prevent injury and maintain safety for employees and the public on company premises. Adhere to requirements and report any breaches.
  • Make on-site decisions related to occupational health and safety and provide guidance to managers on safety policies and procedures. Support the Occupational Health and Safety Manager and insurance team in investigating claims related to incidents on company premises. Assist in monitoring health surveillance to maintain a healthy workplace for all employees.
  • Assist managers in investigating accidents and incidents to implement appropriate control measures and prevent recurrence.
  • Promote a positive health and safety culture throughout the group by using effective communication methods and raising awareness of personal safety and responsibility.
  • Ensure Health and Safety compliance within departments under your responsibility to achieve overall compliance for the group. Contribute to the development of group-wide health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Assist departments with Health and Safety training compliance through in-person training at all levels. Contribute to the development of training material to ensure alignment with current legislation.
  • Ensure staff members adhere to relevant policies, procedures, and codes of conduct, particularly in relation to Health and Safety regulations and equal opportunities.
  • Build and maintain effective professional relationships with individuals and teams, supporting them in achieving objectives and high-level performance.

We are looking for someone who has...

  • Valid full driving license and access a car
  • A demonstrated track record of addressing Occupational Health and Safety matters within a working environment and delivering exceptional professional guidance and support to managers and staff
  • Experience in creating and implementing H&S training programs for managers and staff
  • Proven experience of functioning effectively as a Health & Safety professional
  • Experience in conducting investigations into accidents, incidents, and near misses in occupational settings, and implementing effective control measures to prevent their recurrence
  • An extensive knowledge of Health & Safety legislation
  • Capable of prioritizing workload, taking initiative, working accurately under pressure, and meeting deadlines
  • Ability to establish personal credibility by exemplifying the organization's values, building trust with internal partners, and actively contributing to the organization's success
  • Proven ability to influence and persuade colleagues
  • Capability to analyse information regarding complex situations and communicate findings clearly and precisely
  • Aptitude for delivering effective H&S training courses on various topics
  • Proficient in conducting investigations, audits, and inspections, and producing comprehensive reports on findings
  • Level 3 Qualification in Health & Safety (e.g. NEBOSH General Certificate)
  • Professional membership, such as, membership in the Institution of Occupational Safety & Health (IOSH) – Technical Member (TechIOSH) or above
