About Seren

Seren is a collaborative initiative that brings together Welsh Government, state schools, colleges, leading universities, alumni, local authorities, and third-sector organizations. The mission is to provide comprehensive support and guidance to learners attending state schools, helping them successfully gain admission to competitive higher education institutions and courses. The program spans Year 8 to Year 13, ensuring that all eligible students across Wales have equal access to opportunities, regardless of their economic background, personal situation, or location.

Requirements

Your Role:

  • As a dedicated Hub Coordinator, you’ll be at the heart of the program, acting as the main point of contact for learners, teachers, tutors, parents, and carers.
  • Your responsibilities will include:
  • Leading and coordinating the implementation of the Seren program across the designated region in South Wales.
  • Guiding learners through a carefully curated program of activities, both nationally and regionally.
  • Organizing face-to-face events, workshops, and seminars to enhance students’ understanding of higher education pathways.
  • Collaborating with schools, colleges, and universities to create additional opportunities, such as the London Links trip and debating competitions.
  • Collaborate with the Welsh Government policy team, national programme delivery partners and other Regional Leads to share best practices and ensure consistency across regions.
  • Providing ongoing support and mentorship to help learners navigate the various stages of their educational journey.
  • Advocating for students’ academic potential and ensuring they succeed on highly selective degree programs.

Qualifications and Skills:

To excel in this role, you should have:

  • Experience in education, youth development, or a related field (ideally specifically in the context of higher education access).
  • Qualified Teacher Status
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • A passion for promoting educational equity and social mobility. Excellent organizational abilities to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
