Cluttons is a multi-faceted property consultancy. We have specialists in agency, rating, valuations, compulsory purchase, investor services, planning, lease advisory, occupier services, property management and of course our very own project and building consultancy.

Cluttons are an SME organisation with offices in London, Oxford, Reading and Manchester.

Here in Oxford, we like niche markets and making a difference.

The role

The Oxford office continues to grow and we need to expand our Building Surveying team, alongside our engineers and CAD team.

Here you will be assisting with design and managing stakeholders for a range of projects nationally alongside professional building surveying work.

We are committed to implementing sustainable approaches in all that we do.

The best things about working here
  • The team culture and support we give each other
  • Our diverse backgrounds (currently we represent 12 countries)
  • The positive atmosphere
  • Supporting the development of green energies
  • The exploratory and innovative approach we take
  • Accepting that we learn from our mistakes
  • Games afternoon
  • Sustainability as a way of life

Responsibilities

You will manage design and construction works in the utility sector supporting solar farms, battery storage sites and electricity distribution infrastructure. Construction knowledge of civils and buildings is preferred, working with stakeholders for project design and delivery.

We are active in our specialist fields of flood defence for large commercial sites and conservation of heritage property in the Oxford educational sector. We might be looking at mitigating flood risk for a retail showroom, or surveying C17 stonework and specifying sensitive repairs.

Surveyors provide traditional building surveying services in commercial, educational and industrial sectors, including dilapidations, party wall, due diligence surveys, building pathology, condition surveys, reinstatement cost assessments, construction monitoring, principal designer role and project management of construction or fit out projects.

So, a day can be as diverse as carrying out surveys to produce planned preventative maintenance schedules for an Oxford College, through to visiting a site to check that reinforcement is placed correctly for a flood defence scheme to a factory.

For the utilities work, you will be co-ordinating a team of engineers, CAD designers and external consultants to complete the design of projects such as a 50MW battery storage site or to support a solar farm. You will gain knowledge and understanding for these important sites, helping to fight climate change and enhancing energy security.

Requirements

  • You will have a relevant construction related or building surveying degree
  • You will preferably hold a relevant professional qualification (MRICS or similar)
  • Full UK driving licence
  • An understanding of construction processes and technology
  • An understanding of the process of dilapidations
