Overview - Role and Department:

We are seeking an Investment Manager to join our London based team. The successful candidate will have responsibility to develop investments in long biased equity strategies in the portfolio, whilst maintaining responsibilities across the Investment Business, providing support to the Chief Investment Officer (CIO), head of private markets and head of public market investments.

The successful candidate will be responsible for a broad range of investment management activities, including:

  • Develop strategy for long biased equity strategies.  Be the thought leader for the Investment Business in this area, attending industry events and building out network to increase the breadth and depth of idea sources.  Lead on execution of strategy for this part of the portfolio.
  • Source and screen new investment opportunities across all asset classes.
  • Lead underwriting of external managers across all asset classes including effective management of external consultants (operational due diligence, legal and tax) where appropriate.
  • Lead execution of investment in external managers and funds across all asset classes.
  • Prepare and present Investment Advisory Committee (“IAC”) recommendation papers for new investments.
  • Monitor fund manager performance including review of monthly/quarterly/annual reports and review meetings with the managers, providing performance analysis and written commentaries.
  • Oversee preparation of monthly performance reports and IAC materials, including performance, attribution and exposure analyses.
  • Maintain databases to track, assess and monitor the performance of both individual investments and the overall portfolio.
  • Maintain and develop contacts in the industry.
  • Support investment operations as required including trade and cash planning, preparation of documentation for new investments and foreign currency hedging.
  • Support preparation of ad-hoc presentational materials for other meetings, for example, Boards, Property Advisory Committee or Non-Executive Director updates.
  • Interaction with wider Family Office team as necessary to support information requirements to produce statutory accounts, tax computations and treasury.
  • Provide day-to-day guidance, mentoring and training of Investment Analysts.
  • Research into economic, industry and financial market trends to help inform asset allocation decisions and to fuel investment idea generation, including attending conferences.  Recommend opportunistic investments which may result.
  • Support the CIO and investment team with ad-hoc projects.

Requirements

Qualifications/Experience

  • Demonstrable relevant experience at a similar level, whether in an asset management firm or in an investment role in a single or multi-family office, endowment, foundation or investment consultancy firm.
  • Strong candidates will have completed further professional studies (e.g. CFA).
  • Outstanding academic background with demonstrated analytical capabilities, detail orientated and excellent written English. These capabilities will be tested during the recruitment process.
  • Advanced Excel skills, good knowledge of Microsoft Office and Bloomberg.
