The Opportunity:

The Lead Front Structure engineer will lead and guide the design team on the front zone design. The lead engineer will work closely with the other function groups such as styling, interior, exterior and electrification to ensure the structures package is fully integrated. The lead engineer will be responsible for working with the CAE crash team and guide the team with crash requirements for their area. To work closely with the CAE team to deliver a structure that meets the project attributes for safety, stiffness and NVH. As a key member of our engineering team, you will play a pivotal role in driving the success of our projects and contributing to the advancement of our organisation.

What you’ll do:

• Have experience with structural design knowledge for crash, stiffness and NVH, knowledge of castings, extrusions, composite materials and joining technologies such as bonding, welding, SPR’s and FDS.
• Be able to set timing and plan activities for the front structure to meet project gateways and deliverables, organise and run weekly meetings with the front design team in a structured manner and be able to define work packages for the structures design team.
• Monitor the weekly progress of the front zone and report status to the vehicle Line manager, project manager and head of structures.
• Have a good knowledge and understanding of crash legislation for front, rear, side and roof.
• A good understanding of battery integration, structure and structural test requirements.
  

Who you are:

• Have previous BIW Automotive experience.
• Good understanding of manufacturing techniques for castings, tube manipulation, welding and bonding, pressed aluminium and steel parts, including extrusions.
• The lead engineer must set the highest standards for the design team and manage the permanent and contract design team to deliver against the project timing.
• Ability to work with multiple stakeholders & drive towards a common goal.
• A calm multitasker who successfully managed, prioritise and executes against deadlines in a rapidly changing environment.
