About the Role

In recent years, the Technical Operations (TechOps) division has been investing heavily in the company’s technology infrastructure and building a community of passionate IT professionals who aim for higher standards than a traditional IT department. The supportive and friendly team are looking for new colleagues to help deliver first-class systems administration, hardware processing, process optimisations, and skill-sharing, whilst retaining the personal touch that Costello Medical employees have come to know and love.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing on-premise and cloud technologies, including file system and permissions management, device and software management via Microsoft Intune, in addition to identity and access management across platforms like Microsoft 365
  • Setting up and issuing hardware such as laptops and peripherals, overseeing equipment lifecycles (e.g., retirement and disposal), as well as maintaining an accurate asset database
  • Responding to user requests, discussing solutions, and providing required equipment
  • Coordinating the delivery of IT services in satellite offices by working closely with non-technical representatives
  • Travelling to national and global offices for on-site tasks such as device management, office moves, and infrastructure updates
  • Supporting with system audits, such as checking access rights and reporting on inactivity
  • Collaborating with the remote managed service provider (MSP) to provide deskside support
  • Representing the TechOps division within the company by explaining IT processes, announcing changes, soliciting feedback, and maintaining strong relationships with other teams
  • Collaborating with colleagues and project managers to deliver continuous technical improvements
  • Proactively sharing new ideas to enhance our IT services and technologies

Within the role, you will also have opportunities to:

  • Contribute to a variety of internally delivered and outsourced IT projects, such as implementing new systems, software and hardware
  • Create and manage knowledge articles, user guides, policies, and training materials
  • Develop skills in cybersecurity and information governance
  • Relocate to other offices and grow our IT presence throughout the business

Hybrid Working Policy: We recognise that home-working can improve work life balance, reduce commuting times and costs, and provide the opportunity to juggle personal commitments. At the same time, we believe that having face-to-face time in the office holds many benefits and is central to ensuring that the community we have created, where people have a workplace they belong to and feel part of, is never lost. Therefore, we offer flexible working arrangements that allow our colleagues who have passed probation to work from home for up to half of the time, measured across a 2-week rolling period. During your probationary period (normally the first 6 months of the role) you will be able to work from home for 1 day per week.

Why Choose a Career in IT with Costello Medical?

At Costello Medical, we strongly recognise the importance of IT talent and believe we offer a unique opportunity to kick-start and build your IT career with us.

  • Just the fun bits of IT. We outsource technical support and infrastructure administration to our MSP, which allows our IT Administrators to focus their time on supporting their colleagues and contributing to exciting new projects that optimise IT operations and improve the user experience
  • Grow your skills at the cutting edge. We are continuously improving our systems; over the past few years, we have stripped out much of our existing infrastructure and implemented innovative cloud-based solutions. As an IT Administrator, you will gain valuable experience with cutting edge technologies, and will have the opportunity to support the implementation and adoption of new technologies
  • Users who respect and value you. IT Administrators do not provide frontline support. Since employees aren’t approaching us with problems and complaints, it’s easy to build positive, trusting and respectful relationships with them. As an IT Administrator, you will feel like a valued and integral part of the company
  • A truly varied role. You will have opportunities to work in IT security, information governance, IT infrastructure, projects, development, technical writing, and much more. As the company’s technological needs are always changing, there are always new opportunities available
  • We are invested in our culture. We are committed to our company values which promote a fun, friendly and innovative workplace in which we strive to deliver the highest standards of quality. As a result, we have been listed in The Top 100 Companies to Work For list for six consecutive years, and achieved B Corporation certification in 2022. These values are embraced within the entire company, including the TechOps team
  • Have your say and shape your own career. Given we outsource a lot of our IT, our internal team is relatively small. Your voice matters; you will have a significant influence in team decisions, and can choose the technical areas you would like to specialise in. You will be encouraged to take your career in a direction that challenges you to meet your own goals
  • Contribute towards something bigger than IT. Our customers are some the industry’s most successful pharmaceutical and medical technology companies, patient and public health bodies and charitable organisations, and as an organisation, we are committed to improving health globally. By keeping our systems running and allowing us to serve our customers, you are directly contributing towards improving global health. You will also be supporting a company that believes in corporate social responsibility and be able to give back to the local community through funded volunteering and pro bono days
