Department & Position Overview: 

The Employee Relations and Operations Manager will be responsible for managing and improving employee relations processes, ensuring compliance with UK employment laws and regulations, and fostering a positive work environment. This role requires a skilled HR professional with deep expertise in employee relations, strong problem-solving abilities, and excellent communication skills. 

Key Responsibilities: 

Employee Relations Strategy: Develop and implement effective employee relations strategies to support Civica’s business objectives and foster a positive and productive workplace culture.

Case Management: Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues, including disciplinary actions, grievances, performance management, and workplace investigations, ensuring fair and consistent application of company policies.

Compliance: Ensure all employee relations practices comply with UK employment laws and regulations. Stay updated on changes in employment legislation and advise senior management on necessary actions.

Policy Development: Develop, review, and update HR policies and procedures related to employee relations, ensuring they reflect best practices and are effectively communicated to employees.

Advisory Role: Provide expert advice and guidance to managers and employees on employee relations matters, helping to resolve conflicts and improve workplace relations.

Training and Development: Develop and deliver training programs for managers and employees on employee relations topics, including conflict resolution, performance management, and effective communication.

Data and Analytics: Utilize HR metrics and analytics to track employee relations trends, identify areas for improvement, and report on key performance indicators to senior management.

Mediation and Conflict Resolution: Act as a mediator in employee disputes, facilitating resolutions that are fair and beneficial for both employees and the organization.

Engagement Initiatives: Lead initiatives to enhance employee engagement and satisfaction, working closely with the HR team to develop and implement engagement strategies.

Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks related to employee relations issues, ensuring proactive measures are in place to prevent workplace disputes and maintain a harmonious work environment.

Employee Relations Leadership: Providing coaching and training to team members, ensuring that they are highly skilled in legislation and Company Policies.

 

Requirements

Essential Competencies:

  • In-depth knowledge of UK employment law and best practices in employee relations. 
  • Proven experience in managing complex employee relations cases. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with employees at all levels. 
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills. 
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism. 
  • Proficiency in using HR information systems (HRIS) and Microsoft Office Suite. 
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to leverage data for decision-making.
