The Role:

We are looking for a highly organized and tech-savvy Legal & Compliance Operations & Transformation to join our growing legal and compliance team.  This role will focus on optimizing and transforming our legal and compliance functions through technology, automation and process improvement. You will work closely with stakeholders across the business to ensure that our legal tech stack—including Jira and Juro—is integrated seamlessly into daily operations, driving efficiency and performance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in legal and compliance operations, project management, and data-driven decision-making, along with a proven track record of implementing legal technology and automating workflows, while having a strong understanding of relevant department metrics and data analysis to support decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

Legal Tech Implementation:

    • Lead the evaluation, selection, and implementation of existing and new legal tech tools to improve workflows, automate processes, and drive efficiency.
    • Collaborate with IT, legal, and compliance teams to ensure the smooth integration of new and existing legal technologies, including Juro for contract management and Jira for service desk and work management. Assessing new technologies and provide ongoing support and optimization of legal tech tools, ensuring they are fully leveraged by the team.

Process Automation & Workflow Management:

    • Design, implement, and maintain automated processes for legal and compliance tasks, including checklists, workflows, and reporting.
    • Lead the enhancement of Jira as a service desk and work management tool to streamline task allocation, monitor progress, and create efficient workflows.
    • Develop and implement SLAs in Jira to track and ensure timely resolution of legal and compliance requests.
    • Continuously identify opportunities to optimize workflows, reduce manual intervention, and increase efficiency in daily operations.

Legal Metrics & Reporting:

    • Create, track, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics that measure the legal team’s workload, efficiency, and performance, including building reports on Jira.
    • Develop dashboards and reports for legal department leadership to provide insights into ongoing legal and compliance projects, including tracking key milestones, deliverables and requests on Jira.
    • Use data analysis to assess the legal team’s workload, identify bottlenecks, and recommend areas for improvement.

Knowledge Hub Management:

    • Maintain and develop the legal and compliance knowledge hub, ensuring that all resources, templates, policies, and documentation are up-to-date, well-organized, and easily accessible to the team and stakeholders. Oversee the maintenance of YouLend’s contract playbooks and other guides around legal processes, and keeping these up to date.

Contract Management Support:

    • Provide day-to-day support with Juro, our contract management platform, including onboarding new users, troubleshooting issues, and optimizing contract workflow.
    • Work with internal stakeholders to ensure efficient contract drafting, approval, and execution processes.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Training::

    • Collaborate with other departments such as IT, Finance, and Operations to ensure that legal processes are aligned with broader business systems and objectives.
    • Lead training sessions for the legal and compliance teams on new tools and processes, ensuring they are well-equipped to use the tech stack effectively.
    • Develop educational programs and materials to improve company-wide understanding of legal and compliance operations, including best practices and compliance obligations

 Data-Driven Decision-Making & Reporting:

    • Track and report on key legal and compliance metrics such as contract cycle times, SLA adherence, legal spend, and workload distribution to drive informed decision-making and improve operational efficiency.
    • Create dashboards and reports for the legal and compliance leadership, providing insights into ongoing projects, tasks, and overall department performance.
    • Use data to identify bottlenecks and recommend improvements in processes and resource allocation.

 

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in legal operations, compliance operations, or project management, ideally within a fintech or tech-driven environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Jira for service desk, ticketing systems, and work management, with experience in automating legal processes and workflows to increase efficiency, creating reports, SLAs, and tracking legal and compliance requests. Understanding of SQL (for Metabase) would be a plus.
  • Data-driven mindset with the ability to track and report on legal department metrics, such as contract cycle times, legal spend, and operational efficiency, and experience in using data to measure and optimize team performance and inform decision-making.
  • Experience with implementing legal tech tools and AI, and monitoring benefits and risks on an ongoing basis would be a plus.
  • Familiarity with knowledge management systems and maintaining legal documentation.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across different teams and functions.
  • Detail-oriented with a problem-solving mindset and a proactive approach to identifying operational improvements.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage projects and lead cross-functional initiatives.
