If this is you, then our permanent, full-time Support Worker opportunity at The Mariners in Rye, East Sussex, may be the role for you.

Joining an established friendly and supportive team of Support Workers, a Registered Home Manager and an Assistant Home Manager at The Mariners you will be providing first class person centred care and support to adults who have a range of learning disabilities.

As a Support Worker you will be enabling our services users to live the lives they choose through independence, dignity, choice and achievement.

About You

You don't need to have previous experience or qualifications to get started. We will provide learning and development support to help you become an excellent support worker.

The Role

Following a person-centred approach you will enable our service users to feel valued, reach their potential and nurture their goals and aspirations.

You will assist and support service users in every aspect of their daily lives including:

  • preparing meals
  • attending appointments/reviews
  • planning and attending activities with them
  • administering, recording and storing medication
  • some personal care
  • driving between The Mariners and our Life Skills Services as well as external activities and appointments

Hours

As a full time Support Worker you will be allocated shifts equating to 162.5 hours per month.

You can expect your monthly rota to include a mix of short days, long days and sleep-in shifts.

The Trust

Canterbury Oast Trust based in Ashford provides long term accommodation, care and support within residential and community settings for adults with learning disabilities across Kent and East Sussex.

We also provide opportunities for learning through our Life Skills Services as well as owning and running the Rare Breeds Centre in Woodchurch.

The Service

The Mariners is located in the market town of Rye and is close to local shops, bus routes and the train station.

The property is a converted grade II listed building over three floors. As a Support Worker based at The Mariners you will be working a team providing care and support to up to 10 service users.

Pay and Benefits

  • Salary - £18,720 p.a.
  • Additional shift allowances include Sleep-ins at £40.00 per shift and a weekend allowance of £0.70 per hour
  • 22 days annual leave plus statutory bank holidays
  • Additional annual leave for 3, 4 and 5 years continuous service

Appointments

All appointments are subject to satisfactory of our pre-employment checks including:

  • Proof of eligibility to work in the UK
  • An enhanced check with the Disclosure and Barring Service
  • Two references satisfactory to the Trust - one of which much be from your current or most recent employer
  • A full and detailed employment history
  • Evidence that you meet our driving requirements i.e. hold a clean full UK driving licence and are aged 21 or over

Covid 19 Vaccination Status

You will be required to provide satisfactory evidence that you have received a complete course of an authorised Covid 19 vaccination or for clinical reasons that you should not be vaccinated.
