Discovery are currently recruiting for dedicated individuals to join our Support Worker team based near Chard.

This service is a large house on the outskirts of Chard that supports five adults with learning difficulties, autism and complex needs. The home is divided into flats so that the people who live here can enjoy their own individualised space.

Discovery’s core purpose is to make sure each person we support gets to live a fulfilling life, to be treated as an equal in society and to be an active participant in their local community. This means that people we support have choice and control in their lives.

About the role:

As a Support Worker your role will involve supporting people with their everyday needs, including support with medication, personal care, emotional support and support with their communication. There are times that you will need to work independently, think outside of the box, look for opportunities and encourage people to be actively engaged in their day to day lives.

Each person we support is different, with their own interests, likes and dislikes, for example Heather loves a good routine, with plenty of coffee and mars bars. Heather is house proud and enjoys a very close relationship with her Mum andSsister. Benji meanwhile enjoys playing in his garden and going for trips out and about.

The hours supporting is from 7am till 10pm, the shift pattern is 7am-2pm or 2pm-10pm, there is also shifts of 5pm-10pm available. If you are looking for more of a weekend role only, we are able to facilitate Support Worker weekend work, there will be expectations to attend training during the week when required.
