Commodities Buyer (Recycled Plastics)

Our client trades in a full range of recyclable materials including plastics, paper and cardboard, glass and metals. A vacancy currently exists for a Commodities Buyer to be employed full-time within their successful Trading Team. The role will cover a significant part of the UK, focused on expanding the company’s coverage in the Midlands and North.  It is a home-based role but will involve extensive travel to visit current and prospective clients, plus some travel to the company’s office in the Northwest.

Applications are invited from candidates with existing sales experience in the waste & recycling industry, ideally to include previous commodity buying experience although experience in packaging or other relevant sales roles will also be considered. In the recycling trading sector, buying still requires a sales approach, and the role would suit people with experience in major account relationship roles. You must be comfortable generating new clients, as well as maintaining existing relationships.

This is a role that demands travel to get in front of suppliers, plus a willingness to ‘roll up your sleeves’ and assess used recyclable material to review quality and suitability for sale.
