My client in Havant is looking for a Electrical Design Engineer due to expansion.

Overview:


My client comprises three of the world’s premier leisure marine equipment manufacturers: Lewmar, Trend Marine and Taylor Made Ireland. Across the three sites, we design, manufacture and distribute an ever-expanding range of products for our global OEM, Aftermarket, Installers and Retail client base.

My client is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join our Design Team, which thrives on its culture of new product development and designing bespoke solutions.In this role, you will be pivotal in designing control panels for hydraulic systems and ensuring the seamless integration of motors and controls into our luxury yacht systems as well as across the product range.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop electrical control panels tailored to the specific needs of luxury yacht hydraulic systems, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and safety.
  • Create detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings using industry-standard design tools and software.
  • Select appropriate motors, sensors, switches, and other electrical components to meet project objectives, considering factors such as efficiency, durability, and environmental considerations.
  • Conduct thorough testing and validation of control panels, motors, and integrated systems to verify performance, accuracy, and functionality.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to source high-quality electrical components and materials while optimizing cost-effectiveness.
  • Provide technical support during the manufacturing, assembly, and installation phases, addressing any design-related challenges or modifications that arise.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues, collaborating with the broader engineering team to develop solutions and improvements.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in marine electrical systems to continually enhance design processes and product offerings.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • 3-7+ years experience in Electrical Design, preferably in the marine industry.
  • Strong proficiency in using electrical design software and tools, such as AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations, including marine classification societies (e.g., ABS, DNV, Lloyds).
  • Experience of integration with serial communications, particularly Canbus or AS-I networks.
  • Hands-on, when required able to build prototypes and solutions.
  • Solid understanding of hydraulic systems and their interaction with electrical components.
  • Ability to select and integrate motors, sensors, and controls effectively to achieve optimal system performance.
  • Adaptability to evolving project requirements and a fast-paced engineering environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and clients.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex electrical issues.
