Stephen James Consulting are delighted to be working with one of their elderly care clients, in the search for a Deputy Manager required to support the Home Manager for a medium sized residential care home based in Gillingham, Kent.  

This Care Home sits within the heart of the local community, offering easy access to nearby conveniences including local shops, restaurants and a library. The home provides 24-hour tailored care in the home. It possesses beautiful interiors, tranquil rooms, spacious collective areas, and warm cosy lounges for it residents. 

You will be responsible for:

  • The Deputy Manager is intrinsic to the success of the Home through effective delivery of providing support to the Home Manager in ensuring all resident and staffing needs are met.
     
  • Responsible for supporting the Home Manager to embed a safe and welcoming environment for residents, their families, employees and visitors. 
     
  • Demonstrate high professional standards and leadership to support the Home Manager ensure staffing requirements and needs are met in line with Trust, CQC and Local Authority standards.
     
  • Provide support to the Home Manager and employees towards the home being rated ‘Good’ or above by CQC.

To be considered for this role of Deputy Manager you will need the following experience:

  • Relevant and demonstrable work experience in a residential care setting.
     
  • Good working knowledge of CQC regulations and of relevant legislation, including knowledge of relevant legislation  e.g. Health & Social Care Act 2008, Care Act - Protection of Vulnerable Adults and Mental Capacity Act.
     
  • Ideally have minimum of 12 / 18 months experience of managing staff within residential care setting. 
     
  • Can demonstrate excellent leadership and effective communication skills  
     

  • To be an active and encouraging Manager, establish and maintain effective means of communication and good relationships with residents, relatives, employees in the home.
