About the Role:

As a Controls Engineer, you'll be at the heart of innovation, playing a crucial role in projects from their initial design phase to their successful commissioning on customer sites. Your responsibilities will include programming PLCs, robots, and HMI systems to meet customer requirements, as well as troubleshooting and supporting existing systems. Your main duties will involve the below:

  • Collaborate with the Electrical design team to develop systems from the ground up, ensuring they meet business and customer requirements.
  • Design and implement software solutions for complex production systems, ensuring they meet quality standards.
  • Coordinate with the Mechanical design team to ensure seamless integration of mechanical and electrical components.
  • Implement company and external standards, including BS/ISO, and ensure compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Power up and configure hardware, conducting quality checks to ensure adherence to company standards.
  • Work closely with Mechanical and Electrical assemblers/technicians during various stages of system development and assembly., CE Marking and Project Management.

About you:

  • Minimum HNC qualification in a relevant electrical/mechanical discipline or significant industry experience.
  • Proficiency in PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Omron, Siemens, etc.) and creating user-friendly HMI interfaces.
  • Working with motion control PLC
  • Ability to interpret Electrical and Mechanical drawings and integrate motion control/actuators into systems.
  • Experience in troubleshooting technical issues and delivering timely solutions.
  • Strong documentation skills, including the creation and maintenance of technical documents.
  • Ability to work within tight timescales and provide quality information within deadlines.
  • Excellent team player with the capacity to work independently when required.
  • Strong PC skills, particularly in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook).
  • Experience in robot programming (ABB, Omron, Yaskawa) and familiarity with vision systems (Keyence, Cognex) is advantageous, however is not essential.
