CNC Setter/Operator

Summary

A Precision CNC Manufacturing Company Based in Hertfordshire, covering a broad range of Sectors Including Aerospace, Defence, Motorsport, and Robotics. We operate a high-quality engineering facility that offers a clinical and precise working environment, utilising state of the art machine tools and supporting equipment. We are seeking a hardworking, precise, and highly experienced CNC setter/operator to add to our well-established team of CNC Engineers. You will get the chance to produce highly complex components that test your abilities on the cutting edge of machined componentry.

The Role & Responsibilities

The day to day role will be ensuring mills have minimal downtime and working efficiently to produce high precision components to drawing specifications. Also, keeping the mills in a clean operational condition. This will include the following:

• Working from tooling information given by programmer

• Setting Tools

• Defining machine datums

• Prove out new jobs

• Editing machine offsets

• Carrying out first off inspection checks

• Maintaining machining tolerances

• Interpreting engineering drawings

• Collaborating with inspectors to ensure drawings tolerances are met

• Self-management of workload to work efficiently

• Working to 5S

Key skills that for this role which should include most listed but should not be limited to:

• Good time keeping

• Good understanding of setting & operating CNC Mills

• Understanding engineering drawings

• Carrying out first off inspection checks

• Acute attention to detail

• Understanding and interpreting engineering drawings

Experience:

• 4 Years previous experience Operating CNC Mills

• 4 Years previous experience Setting and operating

• Ideally experience using Heidenhain controls and DMG Machines

• Background producing CNC machined components for motorsport, aerospace or similar industries requiring high standards

• Operating Lathes and Mills

Education:

• Level 3 B-Tech Mechanical Engineering (Preferred)

• NVQ Level 3 (Preferred)

• Apprentice Trained (Preferred)
