DMW Recruitment are looking for a Mechanical Estimator to join our clients established building services team based in Gateshead.

Our client provides M&E design through to delivery in the healthcare, residential, commercial and industrial sectors.  As the ideal candidate, you will have a proven track record of estimating and winning profitable jobs and have a team work ethic.

Responsibilities:

  • Tender Management: Establish and communicate the requirements of each tender to the bid team, ensuring all details are clearly understood and addressed.
  • Design Coordination: Collaborate with internal and external designers to develop advanced designs suitable for pricing.
  • Quantity Take-Offs: Extract quantities from tender drawings to prepare accurate cost estimates.
  • Rate Building: Develop rates for items in a Bill of Quantities using labour, plant, and materials.
  • Supply Chain Monitoring: Oversee supply chain inquiries to ensure timely and competitive quotes.
  • Innovation & Value Engineering: Introduce innovative solutions and value engineering to enhance tender proposals.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with other team members involved in tender preparation to ensure that all tender documents submitted meet or exceed client expectations.
  • Tender Presentations: Assist in preparing tender presentations for Directors, including the preparation of the preliminary book.
  • Document Preparation: Produce and submit final tender documents to clients, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Detailed Tender Management: Undertake comprehensive management of tenders to ensure thoroughness and compliance.
  • Accurate Cost Planning: Ensure that cost planning and estimating are precise and reflect the project requirements and risk profile.
  • Policy Compliance: Adhere to and ensure compliance with company procedures and policies.
  • Bills of Quantities: Prepare detailed bills of quantities for various projects.
  • Risk Management: Identify and support the management of project risks and opportunities.
  • Cost Analysis: Prepare and analyze costings for tenders to ensure competitive and viable pricing.

Developing sub-contract terms and conditions.

Developing tenders.

Obtaining prices and managing variations.

Producing product/service specifications.

Reading technical drawings.

Accuracy and attention to detail.

Working to tight deadlines.

Experience in developing and managing property-related contracts in a housing association environment.

Proven track record of leading a high-quality, high-volume customer-led service.

Demonstrated competence in a housing or technical construction discipline.

Experience working with various stakeholders to develop and agree on solutions.

Experience implementing and monitoring Performance Management Systems.

Experience working with various Asset Management Databases.

Methodical approach, attention to detail, and accuracy.

Ability to work effectively with people at all levels and willingness to work in a team.

Willingness to accept responsibility for completing designated tasks.

Ability to analyze and process technical data.

Ability to manage workloads to ensure performance targets are achieved.

Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Proficiency in IT packages such as spreadsheets, databases, word processing applications, stock condition databases and SCC or Cypha software.

Experience negotiating contractual claims and variations.

Experience preparing management team financial reports.
