NPD Technologist (Food)

Location: Bristol  

Position: Full time, Permanent

Salary: £35,000-£55,000

Our Client

Autograph Recruitment are delighted to be partnered with a successful business who are currently experiencing significant growth. They take pride in ensuring their products offer high-quality to exceed industry standards and are now looking for a NPD Technologist.

This role will be working with the Sales and Commercial team to lead projects that will showcase products and support customer briefs. Working closely with marketing teams to develop recipes and preparing samples for customer presentations.

This could present a great opportunity for an individual looking to step up responsibilities in a varied role within FMCG.

Responsibilities of NPD Technologist:

  • Developing new food products: working with senior developers to brainstorm ideas, source ingredients, and experiment with recipes to create innovative products.
  • Market research: competitor analysis and market research to understand consumer trends and identify potential product opportunities.
  • Improving existing products: help refine existing recipes to improve things like quality, cost-efficiency, or taste.
  • Scaling up production: ensuring a smooth transition from recipes to large-scale factory production. This involves tasks like trial runs, process development, and working with suppliers.
  • Documentation and costing: keep detailed records of the development process and contribute to costing new products.
  • Maintaining quality and safety: ensure that all products adhere to food safety regulations and quality standards.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Must have previous experience in food development and production.
  • A degree or qualification in a food science or nutrition-related field would be advantageous.
  • Excellent understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good under pressure, meeting deadlines.
  • Punctual and adaptable to workloads.
  • The ability to work effectively independently, and as part of a team.
