Job Title: Quantity Surveyor

Location: West Midlands, West Midlands, Walsall

Job Type: Permanent, expected to work Full-Time hours

Primary Industry: Civil Engineering

Secondary Industry: Utilities

Salary: £40,000.00 - £50,000.00 Per annum

Job Description

Job Duties:

  • Prepare estimates, budgets, and cost plans for construction projects
  • Conduct risk assessments and value engineering
  • Manage project costs within budget constraints
  • Prepare tender and contract documents
  • Evaluate and negotiate subcontractor and supplier quotations
  • Provide advice on contractual claims and disputes
  • Monitor and control project progress and costs

Required Qualifications:

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or related field
  • Professional accreditation (e.g., RICS) is desirable

Education:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying or related field

Experience:

  • At least 3 years of experience in quantity surveying within the civils industry
  • Experience in managing project costs and budgets
  • NEC 3 & 4 Experience
  • Tier One Contractor Experience

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong understanding of construction contracts and procurement processes
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills
  • Good communication and negotiation abilities
  • Proficient in relevant software applications (e.g., MS Excel, CostX)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Chartered status with RICS or equivalent
  • Master's degree in Quantity Surveying or related field

Working Conditions:

  • Office-based work with occasional site visits
  • Hybrid working
  • Standard working hours with potential for overtime
  • Travel may be required to project sites
