Lead Cook

Contract: Ongoing Rolling Contract

Rate:: £14.28ph

Shift: Monday - Friday 8:30am - 16:30pm (36hours)

Location: Welwyn Garden City, Flexibility to work one day a week from home and occasional other site visits to hubs

Job Summary

Supporting the Operations Team in ensuring we are compliant with all safe & legal documentation on H&H and H&S and is continually reviewed and updated. Liaising with our clients H&H team where required. Ensuring the Quality Panel (QP) kitchen is running efficiently and covering any sickness or holidays where required. Escalating any kitchen processes or issues with the rest of the team. Conducting spec checks on the QP & Hubs to ensure are fully trained and compliant with H&H/H&S processes. Looking for ways to improve processes. Ensuring stock takes of QP are done.

Accountabilities

  • Create & document all Safe and Legal and food hygiene processes implementing changes including spot checks and dummy EHO visits, compliance reviewing updating polices with the clients Food Safety Manager (WGC and HUBS).
  • Facilitate 1-2-1s with cooking team to raise kitchen problems/issues.
  • Assist in the business plan to increase product testing with the aim to up capacity by 36%.
  • Implement a fully automated stock take system within the kitchen process.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders on supplier lead training programs for cooks.
  • Cover for cook's or kitchen assistant's role when sickness and annual leave in team covering all their responsibilities.
  • Assisting the Lead Coordinator with adhoc projects and events.
  • Induction and full training for all new employee's kitchen related.
  • Design training programs for all cooks and to improve efficiently in the kitchen.
  • Oversee weekly schedule and order of testing.
  • Order consumables and kitchen equipment through process and retain invoices.

  • Basic IT skills (Microsoft 360)
  • Management and people skills.

Experience

Food preparation and cooking skills experience. Understanding of safe and legal processes. Food Hygiene Certification, excellent communication skills, Good Food Knowledge, ability to work within and lead a team, management skills required.
