Role:
Our client, a prominent entity in the Defence and Aerospace sector, is currently seeking a dedicated Quality Engineer for a contract position located in Brighton. This opportunity allows you to contribute your expertise in Quality Engineering within a dynamic and fast-paced environment in the Defence & Security industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the identification and documentation of quality discrepancies related to assembly, process, mechanical, electrical, and electro-mechanical systems.
  • Facilitates the implementation of standards, methods, and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision, accuracy and reliability of company products.
  • Leads the preparation and execution of internal audits within established manufacturing and production controls to ensure compliance with internal and external specifications and standards.
  • Liaises with auditing groups and inspectors to develop formal written reports and recommend corrective actions.
  • Identifies trends in discrepancies and collaborates with process owners on the refinement and optimization of business processes.
  • Oversees testing department activities and work of inspectors.
  • Reviews, approves, and controls work order flow tags.
  • Develops inspection techniques, tools, and supplemental inspection instructions in support of standards, methods, and procedures. Participates in supplier corrective and preventative actions, including customer escapes, process nonconformities, supplier corrective actions, customer and change control, and material review board meetings.

Tasks: (may include)

  • QA requirements review and implementation
  • Audit suppliers ensuring that flow down of requirements are correctly executed.
  • Customer and 3rd Party auditor liaison
  • Compile and distribute visit & meeting reports.
  • Customer returns and defect investigation
  • Corrective and preventative action activity and reject analysis
  • Ensure that corrective actions have been effectively implemented
  • Development and review of Quality plans
  • Quality planning input for work instructions
  • Concession/production permit QA approvals
  • DCR QA approvals
  • QA release signatory on CofC's
  • Traceability investigation (Configuration Control) and reporting
  • Document reviews
  • Supporting other programmes / Product Groups within the business






Job Requirements:

  • Prior experience working within a factory environment
  • To be fully conversant with the current revision of ISO9001 and AS9100.
  • Previous experience in operating within an ISO 9000 / AS9100 environment and working with Suppliers is essential.
  • Qualification in Quality Assurance & Mechanical Engineering and internal auditing or demonstrated experience.
  • APQP/PFMEA/PPAP
