Job Opportunity: Injection Moulding Technician

Our client, a leading and well-established injection moulding business are seeking an experienced Injection Moulding Technician to join their team.

In this role, you will be responsible for setting up and managing moulding production orders using established programs, ensuring quality output throughout your shift. You should be committed to achieving "Right First Time" and "Just in Time" manufacturing of plastic components using advanced moulding techniques, adhering to standard work instructions and practices.

Salary: £31,500 - £36,500 per year, depending on experience

Hours: Rotating shifts from 6 AM - 2 PM and 2 PM - 10 PM, with night shift coverage approximately one week per month. Early shift on Mondays starts at 4:30 AM.

Night Shift Premium: An additional £3.00 per hour

As Injection Moulding Technician your key responsibilities will include the following:

  • Set and condition injection mould tools to meet production orders.
  • Address alarms and faults with permanent corrective actions.
  • Ensure production quality by controlling processing parameters according to industry standards and product cost requirements.
  • Perform routine maintenance and fault finding on injection moulding machines and tooling, including basic electrical knowledge.
  • Maintain accurate records of all work for traceability.
  • Supervise shift staff and manage break cover when the Supervisor is not present.
  • Prepare auxiliary equipment, jigs, fixtures, and assembly machines to meet production needs.
  • Conduct quality checks in line with company standards.
  • Use and update the electronic production monitoring system.
  • Identify quality problems and implement first-line troubleshooting techniques.
  • Safely handle materials to/from storage locations and machine side.
  • Ensure accurate stock counting and booking using company systems.
  • Train in processing and optimising new tooling to support business growth and Engineering Project Department.
  • Operate a forklift truck safely.

To be successful in the position of Injection Moulding Technician you will possess the following skills and experience:

  • Proven track record of working as a qualified Injection Moulding Technician.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills with an innovative approach.
  • Experience with business systems such as Microsoft Dynamics.
  • IMT Level 2 and IMT Level 3 qualifications.
  • Understanding of Lean manufacturing fundamentals.
  • Effective communication and decision-making skills.
  • High attention to detail and a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Knowledge of tool trials and process optimisation.

This position is based in South Birmingham and is easily commutable from Birmingham, Redditch, Solihull, Bromsgrove, Northfield and Longbridge.
