Position: Process / Technical Project Mechanical Engineer
Salary: £47,000 - £50,000 per annum
Location: Bridgwater
Shift: Day shift plus two bonus's yearly

Role overview:

We are seeking a qualified Process / Technical Project Mechanical Engineer with a strong mechanical background and basic understanding of PLCs and CAD design. The ideal candidate will lead engineering projects to enhance the manufacturing capabilities at our Bridgwater site.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the delivery of engineering projects to introduce new manufacturing capabilities and automation.
  • Identify opportunities and requirements for engineering projects to enhance production.
  • Develop engineering concepts, including design work, to define and validate solutions.
  • Prepare business cases for investment in new equipment.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to define and deliver project solutions.
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget.
  • Develop and document Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for new equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with Machinery Directive and other relevant regulations through safety risk assessment and validation.

Qualifications:

  • Level 5 qualification or higher (e.g., HND, degree, or equivalent) in an engineering discipline.
  • Experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Expertise in developing solutions for electro-mechanical machinery, with skills in both electrical and mechanical disciplines.
  • Experience in machinery integration, control systems, and automation.
  • Knowledge of UK and European machinery regulations and relevant standards.
  • Proven track record of leading successful engineering projects through a structured lifecycle.

  • Strong problem-solving skills with analytical and structured approaches.
  • Proficiency in CAD and/or PLC programming.
  • Ability to plan and execute projects efficiently.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with colleagues, leadership, and external suppliers.
  • Coaching skills to support colleague development.
  • Decision-making skills with the ability to make timely and informed decisions.
  • IT skills, including proficiency in MS Office and MS Project.
  • Technical writing skills to document engineering evidence clearly.
  • Goal-oriented and motivated to deliver outcomes within required timelines.

The Technical Project Engineer will work closely with the Engineering Technical team, colleagues at the Bridgwater site, and external suppliers to execute projects. This role will also influence the site's engineering strategy and support the development of best practices and skills within the team.
