We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Family Support Worker / Teacher to join our dynamic team.

Role Overview: The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting students and their families, ensuring a holistic approach to education and welfare. You will work closely with students, families, and external agencies to address barriers to learning and improve attendance. Your expertise in social services, MASH referrals, DDSL responsibilities, court cases, and attendance procedures will be essential in this multifaceted role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support and guidance to families, fostering positive relationships and open communication.
  • Manage MASH referrals and act as the Designated Deputy Safeguarding Lead (DDSL), ensuring the safety and well-being of all students.
  • Collaborate with social services and other external agencies to coordinate support for students and families.
  • Represent the school in court cases, providing detailed reports and evidence as required.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve student attendance, working closely with families and the school attendance officer.
  • Deliver engaging and tailored lessons to meet the diverse needs of students within the PRU.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and safeguarding concerns.
  • Participate in multi-agency meetings and contribute to the development of individual support plans.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proven experience in one or more of the following areas: social services, MASH referrals, DDSL responsibilities, or court cases.
  • Strong knowledge of attendance procedures and strategies to improve student attendance.
  • Relevant teaching qualifications and experience in a similar educational setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, families, and professionals.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Desirable Attributes:

  • Experience working within a PRU or alternative provision setting.
  • Knowledge of restorative practices and trauma-informed approaches.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
