This role comes to market from a leading manufacturer of vehicles located within the west midlands. They have a strong history in the UK and continue to experience year on year growth as they invest in new technology and their continued geographical expansion. Investments include new Electric and Hybrid Vehicles.

Joining the chassis team you will work on the development of the companies current and future Electric Vehicle range focusing on the structural design of the chassis and the integration of EV systems and equipment such as the electric drivetrain, HV batteries and thermal management system. Your role will include seeing the design from concept through detailed design and validation.

To carry out this role they are seeking an experienced mechanical design engineer with the following skills/experience:

  • Degree or HNC/HND educated in mechanical engineering or equivalent
  • 3-5 years + experience in industry as a design engineer
  • An understanding of stress, strain, fatigue and manual calculations
  • Strong 3D CAD skills as well as experience in GD&T, BOM Creation and DVP&R
  • Knowledge of key engineering systems including steel structures, hydraulics and electrics
  • Experienced in or able to demonstrate an understanding of Electric Vehicle design
  • Experienced in design for manufacture and assembly
  • Able to work with customers and suppliers to develop and improve products
