I am recruiting Quantity Surveyors for a tier 1 Civil Engineering business in the West Midlands.

My client repairs, strengthens and waterproofs concrete and steel structures, offering a tailored package of specialist works to clients across the UK. Our structural solutions include bridge deck waterproofing, expansion joints, concrete repair and cathodic protection works, steel repair and strengthening work, carbon fibre and temporary works, jacking and bearing replacement.

I am looking to speak to Quantity Surveyors across the West Midlands to support the Commercial Manager in ensuring the continued success of our Special Projects Team in the region.

Key Responsibilities:

·        The QS will ensure that the clients commercial position is protected using in depth understanding and experience of contractual, commercial, insurance and legal processes.

·        QS will be responsible for effective client relationship management to encourage smooth commercial progression of the contract(s).

·        Provide liaison with the client, PQS, and senior staff

·        AQS to manage and provide development and support to other commercial team members.

·        Understand the impact of commercial and technical changes at strategic level within the customer’s business industry/sector

·        Anticipate and plan change in commercial resource on the project

·        Provide commercial support to tendering process when required.

·        The Quantity Surveyor will prepare the basis of the project procurement schedule and ensure the team contribute and complete their relevant sections.

·        Oversee subcontract procurement in accordance with the procurement timetable, in accordance with the procurement policy.

·        Ensure that materials and off site services are procured in an efficient manner with capable organisations in accordance with the procurement policy and procedures and ensure appropriate records are kept.

Essential:

  • A degree in Quantity Surveying or alternatively a degree in building / construction or civils engineering and relevant experience obtained within the Construction Industry as a Quantity Surveyor for a minimum of 5 years
  • An ability to identify problems and build relationships in order to resolve complex & / or ambiguous issues
  • Experience with the NEC form of contracts.

Desirable:

  • An accredited course by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), the Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors (ICES) or the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB).
