About this position:

My client is an engineering consultancy that helps their customers accelerate the development and deployment of Net Zero engineering solutions for their customers in the mobility sector and beyond. They deliver complex engineering designs and specialist manufacturing programmes to the automotive, aerospace, marine, defence and clean energy sectors.This client is massively growing and are looking for an experience Controls and Software Engineer to design and deliver solutions for a variety of engineering projects across the design and implementation of control strategies and software, both from a 'clean sheet of paper' as well as the development of existing systems. This may involve interfacing with analysis, systems, electrical/electronics and vehicle component systems engineers.

Responsibilities:

  • Enable functionality and refinement through intelligent controls and software solutions
  • Control system strategy design, specification and simulation
  • Requirements elicitation and decomposition
  • Creation and maintenance of detailed software design documents (software architecture definition, software design documents)
  • Implementation (software build) and development (e.g. calibration) of control strategy
  • Support mechanical, electrical, and electronic design work with systems and software engineering as required
  • Execution and development of test activities, including setup, testing and reporting to meet the objectives of the project


Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Mechatronic, Mechanical, Systems or a related engineering discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • Computer simulation (e.g.  vehicle simulation, eMachine, mechatronic actuation etc.)
  • Control theory and practical strategy development and calibration
  • Familiarity with appropriate software, e.g. MATLAB, Simulink for simulation and auto-coding C/C++ in an embedded real-time environment
  • Data acquisition and analysis tools (e.g Vector toolsuite, INCA)
  • Requirements and test case management tools (e.g DOORS, Jama, Codebeamer, vTest)
