We’re now seeking a Caretaker – to provide a professional and effective caretaking service, including the cleaning, decoration and maintenance of vacant rooms and communal areas, and carrying out minor repairs.

As a strong ambassador for GCH, you will take responsibility for the condition of the homeless accommodation, conducting regular inspections, both internally and externally. You will liaise with GCH’s Homeless Accommodation Officers on any customer anti-social behaviour and safeguarding concerns and take ownership of raising with GCH’s repairs team, any repairs identified and checking the completion of activities related to the property, communal repairs, and neighbourhood cleanliness/condition. You will ensure that rooms are made available to re-let within 36 hours through and ensure communal areas and vacant rooms are clean, well maintained and decorated to a high standard.

We’d like you to…

  • Have experience of decorating and cleaning domestic properties, including providing minor repairs and maintenance.
  • Have experience of using power tools and garden equipment.
  • Have experience of testing fire alarm systems.
  • Have experience of Legionella and the importance of water testing and flushing to the required legislation.
  • Have excellent communication skills, with a strong customer focus.
  • Have experience of keeping accurate records and of using IT systems, including PC’s, mobile phones and digital cameras to gather, store and process information.
  • Understand the requirements of maintaining high standards in and around our homeless properties/schemes.
  • Hold a full driving licence (we will provide access to a company vehicle, strictly for business use only).
  • Be flexible and willing to travel between homeless properties and other areas as required.
