As the Lead Design Validation Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing and executing Environmental, Electrical, and EMC compliance testing activities. Additionally, you will lead and develop a small team of engineers, ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality validation results and facilitate a series of automated test tools and fixtures to support Validation and Production. This is a critical role that will contribute to the development and launch of innovative automotive and motorsport products.

The Role: 

  • Lead and Manage Validation Testing: Coordinate and execute Climatic, Vibration, Electrical, and EMC compliance testing in accordance with industry standards and internal requirements.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Build and lead a small team of engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and technical expertise to enhance their skills and capabilities. Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Test Planning and Execution: Develop comprehensive test plans, protocols, and schedules to ensure accurate and efficient validation testing. Monitor and track progress to meet project milestones and deadlines.
  • Compliance and Standards: Stay up to date with industry standards, regulations, and best practices related to Environmental, Electrical, and EMC testing. Ensure all validation activities adhere to applicable requirements.
  • Test Equipment and Facilities: Collaborate with internal stakeholders to procure and maintain the necessary test equipment, tools, and facilities to support validation and production testing activities. You will be accountable for the requirements capture, creation and commissioning of test tools and equipment to support validation and production.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyse test data, identify trends, and prepare clear and concise reports summarizing validation results. Communicate findings to cross-functional teams, including design engineers and management.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance validation processes, methodologies, and tools. Identify areas for optimization, efficiency gains, and cost savings.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with design engineers, quality assurance, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of validation activities into the overall product.
  • Consider the health and safety, environmental and energy impact of all activities.
  • Support the Company’s compliance with the Data Protection Act 2018, following policy and best practice.

Candidate Profile: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in design validation engineering within the automotive industry, with a focus on climatic, vibration, electrical, and EMC compliance testing.
  • Proven experience in leading and managing a team of engineers.
  • Strong knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to climatic, vibration, electrical, and EMC testing, such as ISO 16750, ISO 11452, and ISO 10605.
  • Proficiency in using relevant testing equipment and tools.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and draw meaningful insights from test data.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented mindset, with a focus on accuracy and quality in all aspects of work.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
  • Continuous improvement mindset, constantly seeking opportunities to optimize processes and improve efficiency.
