Job title: Section Engineer

Location: Bridgwater, TA5

Contract length: 6 month initial contract - Potential to be extended or made Permanent 

IR35 Status: Inside of scope 

Balfour Beatty are looking to appoint a Section Engineer to work on the Hinkley Maine works (Hinkley Point C project) in the Bridgwater area on a 6 month initial contract basis. The Section Engineer must be committed to the role and to travel to the site. 

The successful Section Engineer will join the repairs team focusing on areas such as Spray Concrete coatings and traditional repairs such as concrete making good and scanning. The Section Engineer will have a good background in Engineering, ideally be Degree qualified in Civil/Construction/Marine/Tunnelling areas and previous Coatings and Injections experience would be beneficial. 

Responsibilities

• HSEQ controls (method Statements, Work Safety Plans, Activity Control Plans, Field Control Sheets)

• Materials Take-offs and reconciliations

• Weekly Look-Ahead programmes and work Schedules

• Progress Reports

• Quality Records (technical Queries, Formation Approvals, Reinforcement Records, Concrete Pour Records, Drainage Inspection Records, Instrument Calibration Checks Etc.)

• Temporary Works design briefs, crane studies and Permits to Load

• Daily Site Diaries

• Records of verbal instructions. Lost time, daywork etc.

• Behavioural Safety Observations

Key Skills / Experience

• Good background in Engineering / Civil Engineering

• Ideally Degree qualified in Civil/Construction/Marine/Tunnelling etc

• SMSTS OR SSSTS qualified

• Tunnelling Qualification would be advantageous

• Previous Coatings/ Injections experience would be beneficial

• Previous experience in managing packages of works

• Self motivated

• Experience in managing teams/junior team members
