Our client, a leading Defence and Security company, is seeking a skilled Lead Project Planner to join their team. As the Lead Planner, you will play a vital role in a complex design and development bid, ensuring the quality and integrity of the project controls aspects required to submit a secure and compelling proposal. This is a contract position within the Aerospace industry. In this role, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio level response from the Electronics Warfare line of business. This will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams and working closely with stakeholders up to VP level. You will need to utilise your expertise in Primavera and be an expert user of P6, as all schedule activity will be conducted using this tool. Additionally, you will utilize Primavera risk analyser to conduct schedule risk analysis, making recommendations for effective management.

  • Applicants must be eligible to obtain SC Clearance.
  • 6 month initial contract.
  • £68 p/h Umbrella, inside IR35.
  • 90% onsite in Luton with some flexibility to work from home.
  • Open to 4-day condensed week for the right candidate.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Coach and mentor cross-functional members of the bid team in planning and scheduling best practices
  • Engage and influence cross-functional teams, maintaining positive interactions with stakeholders up to VP level
  • Work independently, complying with all procedures and escalating appropriately when necessary
  • Apply schedule risk analysis techniques, identify risks, and provide recommendations for effective management
  • Demonstrate commercial and financial acumen
  • Utilize your comprehensive Project Controls experience to successfully navigate bid phase and complex engineering development projects
  • Expertly use the P6 Scheduling Tool to manage schedules and activities
  • Collaborate effectively, communicate clearly, and make sound decisions to facilitate project success


Job Requirements:


In order to succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Significant experience in planning and scheduling best practices
  • The ability to coach and mentor cross-functional team members
  • The capability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders up to VP level
  • An independent working style, with a strong understanding of when to escalate issues
  • Experience in Schedule Risk Analysis and the ability to provide recommendations for effective management
  • Commercial and financial acumen
  • Proven expertise in Project Controls, particularly in bid phase and complex engineering development projects
  • Expertise in using the P6 Scheduling Tool
  • A collaborative mindset, strong communication skills, and excellent problem-solving abilities
