We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Mechanical Estimator to join our client, a market leader in the water industry. This remote position will focus on estimating for water treatment projects and pumping stations within the United Utilities and Severn Trent frameworks, ensuring accurate and competitive project bids.

As a key member of the estimating team, you will be responsible for preparing detailed and accurate cost estimates that meet project specifications and industry standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Preparing detailed and accurate mechanical cost estimates for water treatment projects and pumping stations, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Collaborating with project teams, clients, and other stakeholders to understand and define project requirements.
  • Reviewing project plans and specifications to develop comprehensive estimates, including labour, materials, and equipment costs.
  • Conducting cost analysis and risk assessments to ensure competitive and realistic bids.
  • Managing the timely delivery of estimates and ensuring effective communication with the project team.
  • Supporting the procurement process by providing detailed cost information and specifications.
  • Providing technical support during project execution, including troubleshooting and resolving estimating-related issues.
  • Monitoring and ensuring compliance with estimating regulations and standards.
  • Mentoring and providing guidance to junior estimators, promoting continuous improvement and professional development within the team.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in mechanical estimating for water treatment projects and pumping stations.
  • Extensive knowledge of estimating processes and methodologies.
  • Strong technical and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
  • Familiarity with relevant estimating software and tools.
  • Working knowledge of CDM and construction Health & Safety regulations.
  • Previous experience in water and wastewater treatment plants and pumping stations.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and experience in mentoring and developing junior estimators.
