We have an exciting opportunity to join our client in Newbridge in the role of Quality Assistant, this role will be working 08:00-16:00 Monday to Friday 37.5 hours per week.

The purpose of this role is to assist and support the quality manager and the site team to achieve technical control and business plan targets.

Role Responsibilities

  • Carry out accurate and reproducible test bakes (Measure and combine ingredients and using mixers, blenders, heat sources, and other equipment to make products)
  • Test ingredients and finished goods to ensure that each item meets food safety and quality controls.
  • Analysing test bakes, writing reports, and feeding back findings, keeping written documentation of all stages
  • Support investigations for complaints/failures as required carrying out test bake on finished goods, presenting back findings and implementing actions with aim to find root cause along with clear preventative actions.
  • Lead all internal investigations for failures. Understand product formations and carry out traceability to eliminate raw material concerns. SBRs to be requested in a timely manner with the aim to always prevent out of rotation stock.
  • Ensure that the Test Bakery is always kept clean and tidy and free of open bags and pails.
  • Involvement in the trialling of sundry items for wholesale business.
  • Running trials on NPD Process involving new mixes/concentrates.
  • Weight check calibration of both the plant and test bakery scales twice per day.
  • Ensure that all relevant paperwork is completed fully and in a timely manner.
  • Ensuring documentation within Test Bakery is relevant and the correct version and informing the Quality Manager
  • Support with the tracking of non-conformances trends
  • Day to day QC administration tasks, including managing supplier certificates of conformance, contacting suppliers, and arranging electronic QC communications.
  • Sending samples off for external analysis, logging results generation of required paperwork.
  • Administrative support and evidence gathering for complaint handling (wholesale, manufacturing)
  • Monitor compliance of food safety management through internal audits and manage corrective actions through direct contact with the departmental managers to ensure actions are implemented in a timely manner with effective outcome.
  • Support with the implementation and maintenance of supplier profiles (including all data, nutritional and allergy information).
  • Admin support, requesting information from suppliers, ensuring accreditations up to date.
  • Admin support, document control to ensure quality manual is maintained and updated as per BRC requirements.
  • Analyse and report upon the results of quality control tests to ensure that production remains within specification.
  • Admin support, requesting information from suppliers, ensuring accreditations up to date to help maintain wholesale products specifications and technical data.
  • Analyse product queries (technical)/requests from the customers and liaise with suppliers to complete the requests in timely frame.
  • Make up Agar plates for test lab
  • Glass audits and probe calibrations

Experience Required

Baker with experience of working in a warm environment

Understanding of laboratory protocols and working in a test lab environment

Experience of Nutricalc
