With nearly 50 years of industry experience, our client designs and manufactures custom-built, industrial products. They have a busy order book and the potential to take on much more work, but they need another Designer to facilitate their business growth.

Company: Headquartered in South Manchester, our client collaborates with various manufacturing facilities across England and Scotland. They supply to sectors such as Automotive, Aerospace, Nuclear, and Material Handling. They are a family-run business with a friendly and supportive environment.

Role: As this isn’t a huge business, the role will be varied, and projects can be seen through from design to production. You will have the opportunity to manage multiple projects concurrently. Each product is bespoke and designed from concept, with an extensive library of parts on their system, so you would very rarely start from scratch. The role involves both structural and mechanical design, with a structural bias given the size and nature of the products they produce. Adherence to current ISO regulations to maintain project traceability through main registers, customer approval records, and parts/servicing lists is essential.

Day to Day:

• Create GA drawings for the MD to discuss with the client.
• Once approved, create manufacturing drawings.
• Quote and procure all necessary raw materials and components for individual projects, including researching and costing non-standard parts/details.
• Oversee manufacturing at one of their sites in Manchester, Yorkshire, and Scotland.
• Conduct occasional site visits for mechanical repairs or assessments.

Benefits:

• Salary: £30k - £38k per annum, up to £40k for someone with experience in their industry.

• Hours: 08:30 - 17:00 Monday - Friday (37.5 Hours Per Week)

Knowledge and Skills Required:

• A minimum of 3-5 years' experience in design within a similar industry or structural engineering field.
• Minimum HNC/HND qualification in an engineering discipline.
• Proficiency in quotation and procurement processes for raw materials and components.
• Confident user of either SolidWorks or Inventor.
• Ability to work efficiently under strict deadlines.
• Clean driving license (some points acceptable).
• Full Right To Work in the UK – this role does not offer sponsorship support.
