Our client is sustainable deep-tech company who is rapidly scaling up and launching their first products. To support them in this next stage, they are looking for an experienced Market Development Manager. The Market Development Manager's primary responsibility is to create demand for company technology with the customer's customers, i.e. end user FMCG, QFS, and Convenience brands. The successful candidate will offer an existing network in the FMCG, and ideally consumer brand packaging markets.

SUMMARY

  • Drive demand for Company materials with end users through a variety of channels including 1:1 interactions, events, webinars.
    • Develop a clear understanding of the end user buying decisions to deepen our understanding of how we can better market Company and provide market intelligence, seeking to: Partner with end users directly to understand their pain-points, overcome barriers to adoption and create opportunities to accelerate partnership.
    • Understand regulatory and ESG target pressures on specific markets / companies and the relative opportunities to drive growth and accelerate demand.
    • Create differentiated partnership propositions vs. our competitors
    • Deepen our market understanding and identify areas for accelerated growth via new value streams (e.g. new formats, new products, new opportunities)
    • Work with wider BD and Marketing team to create/input into and help deliver strategic account plans for target end users.
    • Work with Marketing team to Ideate best practise programme of marketing activity to create pull for end users to Company. E.g. webinars, DM, events
    • Create value proposition for Company marque with end users
    • Work with R&D team to ensure product roadmap and technical development is in line to deliver against end user requirements.
    • Create and deliver strategy to identify target end users and generate pipeline of direct customer meetings.
    • Based on marketing intelligence gathered, help BD shape customer RFIs/RFPs/RFQ and other customer-facing documents in a way that resonates with them.
    • Create and deliver compelling presentations to end users (in person and online)
    • Support wider business on other projects where needed

CANDIDATE EXPERIENCE

The ideal candidate has a wealth of understanding of the packaging market, ideally gained working directly with end user customers in a packaging manufacturer.

  • Excellent understanding of FMCG, QFS, and Convenience end users and their packaging supply chains.
  • Experience partnering directly with customers, gained in technical roles or business/market development.
  • Understanding of how to generate and use customer insights to feed strategic plans.
  • Experience building and delivering compelling and persuasive presentations that drive customer demand.
  • Understanding of creating and executing strategic account plans, and the role that marketing plays in driving awareness and demand.
  • Ability to understand and explain technical concepts in a clear way (scientific background would be advantageous)
