Job Description

Our Client has an exciting opportunity for a Transport Supervisor to join their fast paced business and friendly team, where they work hard to simply deliver more for their customers and colleagues.

The role we're recruiting for:

You will supervise a team of drivers within a fast pace next day delivery transhipment point, driving health and safety and excellence through their service offering for their customers.

The hours would typically be from 5am - 2pm (1 Hour lunch break included) but hours can vary depending on business needs.

Duties:

● Checking and reviewing health and safety and transport compliance at the site, proactively developing Stay Safe improvements and culture.

● Planning and reviewing delivery routes to maximise vehicle utilisation and fuel efficiency.

● Responding to changes in resource requirements.

● Coaching and giving feedback to drivers to ensure compliance with current legislation and dealing with infringements promptly.

● Ensure that vehicles are inspected and maintained as per the company requirements and in accordance with goods vehicle operator's licence.

● Ability to make decisions quickly, flexible and logical attitude to problems - erratic volumes, vehicle breakdowns, delays.

● Knowledge and understanding of financial aspects of operating a commercial vehicle fleet - numerate and analytical.

About you:

Previous experience in a Transport Supervisor role with a strong focus on health and safety, With the ability to motivate the team, communicate effectively and improve standards and performance would be beneficial, however if you are in a supervisory/management role currently, with transferable skills into the transport industry, your application would be considered.

A a good understanding of Transport legislation would be preferred but not essential. Good computer skills, strong organisation skills and attention to detail, Good communicator - both written and verbal skills.
