Project Quantity Surveyor

We are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor (or Junior QS ready to step up) to contribute to the successful management of commercial aspects of various projects.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with all commercial activities of the project, providing support and advice to aid decision-making.
  • Maintain commercial records and ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
  • Monitor contract progress, control costs against budgets, prepare and agree interim valuations and final accounts.
  • Prepare and agree necessary claims for reimbursements and for loss and expense.
  • Liaise with customers and third parties on all commercial matters.
  • Be aware of potential implications for dispute resolution and contribute to the development of quality, health & safety, welfare, and risk management systems.


Key Duties:

  • Prepare and analyse budgets.
  • Procure the supply chain and prepare order documentation according to management systems.
  • Assess and certify subcontractor interim payments, ensuring appropriate notices are issued.
  • Prepare interim valuations and final account submissions.
  • Manage and value variation accounts.
  • Assist with the preparation of extension of time claims and loss and expense submissions.
  • Identify and manage commercial risks.
  • Produce accurate monthly cost value reconciliation reports.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ensure effective interaction between the commercial and operational site teams.


Qualifications:

  • Degree qualified in a relevant field.


Experience:

  • Government project experience
  • Strong commercial awareness.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • High levels of organizational skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent numerical, IT, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Good knowledge of construction contracts, particularly JCT & NEC Forms of Contract.
