Project Manager   

The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience from within the UK civil, structural, infrastructural, or geological, ground or environmental engineering sectors.

Due to continued growth, a significant increase in workload and a number of recent major contract awards, our client is now looking to recruit a Project Manager. The main purpose of this role will be to ensure co-ordination of the efforts of all parties involved in the successful execution and delivery of assigned projects. You will also provide support and assistance to other members of the team, and Directors and Senior Managers as required.

The Role

  • To successfully manage multiple contracts focusing on safety, customer service, quality and productivity
  • To ensure that contracts perform in line with budget and to maintain a motivated, effective and safety conscious workforce
  • Ensure safe working practice of site operations
  • Implement procedures to remove site and safety hazards
  • Produce RAMS and site paperwork for projects
  • Organise and schedule materials, plant and labour resources for projects, with assistance from a buying team
  • Understand and deliver the Client requirements
  • Liaise with estimators and review tenders (when requested) to optimise solutions and assist in determining the most efficient methods
  • Assist or manage contracts with a high level of client contact
  • Develop relationships with clients to encourage repeat business
  • Manage site teams effectively to maximise profitability and motivation
  • Manage employee relations issues relating to training and development, absence, or discipline and grievance issues
  • Manage subcontractors effectively
  • Co-ordinate and produce interim and/or final applications for payment for all works in accordance with contractual deadlines
  • Maximise cash flow and ensure timely resolution of claims and final accounts
  • Ensure site costs are managed effectively

The Person

  • Preferably (but not essentially) educated to HNC / HND level in an industry relevant discipline (construction, civil, earth sciences or geotechnical / geology etc)
  • Demonstrable experience from within the civil, structural, infrastructural, or geological / ground / environmental engineering sectors
  • The ability to assess, analyse and interpret designs, drawings and specifications
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with exceptional levels of attention to detail
  • The ability to work on your own initiative, as well as in a team environment
  • A sound knowledge of various project disciplines, applications or techniques
  • An understanding of the general sequence order of site / construction events
  • The ability to apply the knowledge and principles of project management to a range of schemes
  • A good working knowledge of construction related plant, equipment and materials required on site
  • Possessing the ability and aptitude to manage multiple teams and sites as required
