Salary/Rate:
£21.54 - £24.63/hour

Working in the public sector you will be required to act as Corporate Health and Safety Officer ensuring compliance and the enforcement of Health and Safety legislation.

Duties:

  • To develop, implement and review H&S policies and procedures
  • To audit projects and building works to ensure compliance
  • To work with department managers to develop and review policy documents and develop Safe Operating Procedures
  • To carry out H&S inspections and take any necessary enforcement action
  • Conduct random spot inspections for PPE compliance and operating procedures
  • To investigate accidents and near misses
  • To provide H&S training to employees
  • To carry out fire risk assessments, fire drills and terrorism evacuation procedures

Criteria:

  • A relevant Environmental Health related qualification
  • Demonstrable knowledge, experience and expertise in relation to relevant H&S legislation and best practise.
  • Relevant experience in H&S Enforcement and Corporate H&S.
  • Demonstrable technical and specialist knowledge.

Skills:

  • Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to adapt and proactively organise and prioritise work effectively

This is a 6-month temp role to start asap offering 37 hours per week. There could possibly be the option of a permanent contract in the future.
