Overview

Everest People Solutions are recruiting for an experienced Mechanically biased Maintenance Manager for a food business in County Monoghan. The purpose of the Maintenance Manager is to enhance the efficiency of production lines by delivering both planned and reactive engineering solutions to minimize downtime. You will manage a team and report to the operations director. This is an analytical and data driven role.

Key Duties & Responsibilities for the Head of Maintenance

  • Lead the Engineering team to identify and address potential issues, aiming to minimise downtime.
  • Assist in exploring methods to improve plant productivity.
  • Coordinate to ensure an adequate supply of spare parts.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards in the stores and ensure critical spares for departments are at agreed levels.
  • Follow preventative maintenance (PPM)
  • Work with production shift supervisors and managers to schedule necessary works, ensuring all required permits are obtained before starting.
  • Provide advice and support to external contractors during installation works.
  • Ensure the health and safety of the work environment, adhering to site safety standards and leaving work areas clean, tidy, and safe after completing tasks.
  • Address any defects, following processes to satisfactory conclusions.
  • Confidently work on main components such as pumps, mincer blades, presses, screws, gearboxes, motors, and other machinery.

Requirements for the Engineering Supervisor      

  • Proven experience in a lead maintenance role within a food processing or heavy manufacturing environment, demonstrating strong leadership and technical skills.
  • Strong team player with the ability to manage and motivate a team through a hands-on approach, fostering collaboration and ensuring high performance.
  • Capable of making well-considered decisions under pressure and effectively communicating these decisions to relevant colleagues to ensure smooth operations.
  • Proficiency in problem-solving techniques.
  • Experience with Risk Assessment and Method Statements (RAMs).

Experience with calibration processes and procedures.

  • Detail-oriented with a keen eye for identifying potential issues and escalating them appropriately to prevent disruptions.
  • Excellent communication skills, enabling you to convey technical information and instructions clearly to team members and other stakeholders.
  • Strong desire to learn about automation.
