Service Care Solutions are looking for a Youth Justice Team Leader to work within the Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council on a 8-month contract.

Location: Stockport

Job Role/Responsibilities:
The Youth Justice Team Leader will act as one of the operational management leads for youth justice, serious violence reduction and targeted youth support services and delivery of associated services.

  • To act an operational management lead for youth justice, serious violence reduction, targeted youth support and associated delivery.
  • To be responsible for the operational coordination of youth justice, serious violence reduction and targeted youth support services across Stockport Family, Safer Stockport Partnership, and key partnership agencies.
  • To line manage a multi-agency team of staff to deliver services to prevent and reduce children and young people's offending and other risk-based behaviours and ensure their needs are safeguarded.
  • To ensure that youth justice, complex safeguarding, serious violence reduction and targeted youth support services are delivered in accordance with evidence-based practice, current guidance, and legislative and statutory requirements.
  • To take a lead responsibility in specified functional areas of operational service delivery.
  • To work across Greater Manchester with other GM Youth Justice Services on areas of GM-wide delivery as required.
  • To ensure that high quality services are provided to the courts as required; to develop close working relationships with relevant staff within the Youth and Crown Courts, Clerks to Justices and Crown Prosecution Service.

Knowledge/Experience required:

  • Have at least two years recent experience of working in youth justice or a related field.
  • Evidenced experience of management including structured staff supervision, performance management and multi-agency work
  • Specific management of staff working within a court-based and/or community-based setting
  • Knowledge of current crime and disorder current policies and their relationship to the management and delivery of youth justice and targeted youth support services
  • Knowledge of relevant criminal justice and children's safeguarding legislation and guidance and ability to interpret and apply in the line management of staff.
  • Understanding of risk, safety & well-being factors related to offending, exploitation, other vulnerabilities, and risk-based behaviour.
  • Knowledge of principles of evidence-based practice and other research and developments relevant to youth justice and targeted youth support
  • Ability to analyse and interpret statistics and other information relating to service and individual performance.
  • Ability to represent the service internally and externally.
