About the school:

My client is a Special School for primary-aged pupils who have moderate learning difficulties with complex needs and autistic spectrum disorder. The post holder will be expected to support the aims and ethos of the school, share in its commitment to inclusion, and assist its smooth operation; by delivering a broad, balanced, and challenging curriculum that is tailored to meet the needs of individual pupils and the whole school.

About the role:

We are looking for an ECT to join our Key Stage 1 & Key Stage 2 team at our Special School based in Mill Hill, Barnet. The chosen candidate must be able to completely commit to the role as continuity is key. Application Requirements:

• Qualified Teacher Status.

• Sound knowledge of the National Curriculum and Early Years Curriculum.

• Ability to effectively plan, teach, and assess a range of pupils, including those working below the national curriculum level.

• A practical understanding of equal opportunities.

• Secure subject knowledge, particularly of early literacy and numeracy.

• Understanding of and ability to use teaching and learning strategies appropriate for ASD children, including PECS and “Makaton.”

• Ability to establish a positive learning environment that promotes good relationships and high standards of behaviour and learning.

• Respect for pupils’ social, cultural, linguistic, religious, and ethnic backgrounds with an understanding of how these may affect their learning.

• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with children, colleagues, parents, and other professionals.

• Good ICT skills and ability to use technology to promote children’s independence, communication, and learning.

• Ability to manage, motivate, and inspire children and to be creative.

• Ability to plan for and manage a team of support staff.

• Ability to liaise with multi-professionals.

• High expectations of all children.
