About the job?

The purpose of the role is to deliver a comprehensive Occupational Health Nursing Service in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and Scope of Professional Practice. The OHNA will be expected to work between an Occupational Health Clinic and within client workplaces as required.

Essential Requirements/Qualifications

  • Nursing and Midwifery Council Registered Nurse (Adult or Equivalent)
  • Previous experience of offsite OH work across multiple industries, particularly Oil and Gas
  • Ability to travel and full UK driving licence
  • Computer literate – Particularly Microsoft 365 and MS office Suites.
  • Audiometry
  • Spirometry

Key Skills and Aptitudes

  • Case management and health surveillance experience is essential. Proven ability to conduct face to face and telephone-based assessments.
  • Maintain professional standards in accordance with current legislation and practice including relevant professional registration and continuing professional development
  • Ensure clinical Occupational Health practices undertaken are in accordance with the TAC policies and procedures
  • Liaise with other case management stakeholders, including a client’s HR team in the management of sickness absence and with clients HSE team in the identification of risk and the development of risk prevention control or management strategies.
  • Advise, review, and assist in the development of TAC and client company policy focusing on protection of the mental and physical wellbeing of employees.
  • Promote the business interests through a professional delivery of service and an awareness of new initiatives within TAC.
  • Ensure that thorough clinical case notes are maintained for each patient and standards are meeting local policy and professional standards.
  • Always ensure patient confidentiality, adhering to GDPR legislation, NMC ‘The Code’, General Medical Council/Faculty of Occupational Medicine guidance as applicable.
  • Perform medicals such as industry standard medicals, pre-placement medicals, substance abuse screening).
  • Perform Specialist medicals (such as working at heights, confined space, night worker, lone worker medicals, driver medicals).

Preferred Skills/Qualifications

  • Occupational Health Diploma or Degree +/- SCPHN required for Advisor role.
  • Current Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome Tier 3 Certificate
  • Travel Health trained
  • Experience of undertaking Nurse Based OGUK medical
